Is the Farmer More Important Than The Pediatrician?

Food for Thought: Is The Farmer More Important Than The Pediatrician?

North Shore Agriculture Meeting tonight at 7pm at the North Shore Chamber of Commerce. Uncle Bison Jason Bison Friedmann will be there doing his best to remain vigilant about the health & safety of our children.

Not only are GMOs dangerous because of the chemicals getting into our water, land & air -- but also into our digestive systems -- we need to protect the land as well as do our best to keep GMOs out of our bodies by growing gardens, supporting local farmers, expanding nutritional education in schools like 'AINA In Schools - Kokua Hawai'i Foundation, choosing foods free from GMO's (pesticides and chemicals) & organic options - every dollar counts & we can create change.

"It's bizarre that the produce manager is more important to my children's health than the pediatrician." -Meryl Streep.

Yesterday I sat with a mom whose little one graduated from Ka Hana Pono 2 years ago & she gives me chicken skin when she tenderly describes how Ka Hana Pono helped her entire family begin to look at food choices more carefully...& I'm reminded of many moms I've sat with & discussed their children's nutrition with & artificial colors, gmos, sugars, additives, gluten etc...

Ka Hana Pono has been doing our best to serve GMO free & organic foods snacks & milks since our opening in 2009 & will continue to do so...

The greatest likelihood of coming into contact with foods made from GMOs lies with processed ingredients and additives:

"Research has shown that the food additives used in hundreds of children's foods and drinks can cause temper tantrums and disruptive behavior. A Government-funded study confirms what many parents have long suspected about the effect of chemicals put into sweets, biscuits and foods. Colorings in products such as Smarties, Jelly Tots and fizzy drinks could spark behavior changes in up to a quarter of toddlers."
