Welcome to Ka Hana Pono Daycare where we understand that quality childcare is a concern that cuts to the core of the quality of life for every parent and child. 

We are a state licensed, full service, high quality, eco-healthy, garden and nature based childcare program rooted in the belief that the primary needs of all children are love, respect and a great deal of attention. 

Ka Hana Pono Daycare is committed to providing a safe, inspiring, and mindful environment for your child where his/her needs are met and social, intellectual, emotional, physical, ecological & creative awareness can grow and flourish.

Ka Hana Pono Daycare recognizes each child as an individualand we support each child in his/her unique developmentalneeds. At the same time, as part of a culturally diverse worldin which mutual respect and understanding (aloha) areessential – children at Ka Hana Pono Daycare are alsoencouraged to value teamwork, interdependence, and groupharmony.

Our aim is to harmonize intellectual, emotional andinstinctual reactions with the Spirit of Aloha by incorporatingvalue lessons into our daily experiences. The value lessonsprovide the motive for staying in pono (harmony) with all life and nature – and this is important as values/beliefs influencebehavior/actions.

At Ka Hana Pono Daycare, values are learned through our interactions with each child, the way that we encourage themto interact with each other, & by sharing stories, songs and games.

All staff and volunteers at Ka Hana Pono are Infant & Child CPR and First Aid Certified, FBI Fingerprinted, & have had their criminal backgrounds checked.

Angelica Friedmann (Aunty Gel) is the Director of Ka Hana Pono Daycare & Preschool. She has been a caregiver and healer for seventeen years. Her educational background consists of having received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with Minors in Womens Studies & English from the University of Hawaii at Manoa; an Associates Degree in Early Education and she is a licensed Preschool Teacher. She is currently working towards earning a Masters and PhD in Clinical NLP Therapy. Angelica is also a certified Reiki Practitioner (Energy Medicine), AromaTouch Technician, and Positive Parenting Educator.

Jason (Uncle Bison) Friedmann is a Teacher at Ka Hana Pono. He is a professional musician, singer and songwriter (nominated several times for a Na Hoku Hanohano Award), he holds an Associates Degree in Art from Santa Barbara City College and is an passionate gardener and artist. Jason has a Child Development Associates certificate based on a combination of verified training hours, objective testing, and direct observation in the classroom environment. Uncle Bison provides the children with unique learning experiences in the form of music, art and gardening.
